“Winter in Canada” Beginner (ALL)

This lesson plan consists of a 6-paragraph text on Quebec’s Winter Carnival, accompanied by a list of 9 vocabulary words (underlined in the text). The text is written at a 4.2 level. It is followed by five ’5W’ questions with lines for writing answers, which can be done together as a class or individually. The second activity consists of a list of 16 “Winter Words”. Students, working on their own or in a group, decide which words belong in a choice of 4 categories (e.g. the word “hat” would belong to the winter clothes category).
